A Letter From the Editor
Hi friends.
Thank you to all who have expressed and offered support, have reached out, or even those of you who didn’t know what to say, but still felt pain in your hearts.
I don’t really know what to say either.
The news is that No Contact will be back with a new issue in Late Spring, and new issues quarterly. The news is also that No Contact will now be a paying market.
Submissions will be opening Soon™, and if you already still have a submission under consideration with us, we want to say that we really appreciate your patience and understanding — your work will be reviewed and considered first.
And now, here is the paragraph where I need to say that “the worst has happened,” as Natty so accurately describes this new era. The worst has happened. Gauraa is no longer with us, and this is not the same No Contact, as it could never again be. I wouldn’t pretend otherwise. The world has lost something far more profound than a magazine editor, and I have lost something far more profound than my editing partner.
So what do we do.
I admit I’ve tried just about every option on my own. There is one remaining, which is to pick up the pieces of No Contact, our baby, and run with it as long as we can. In a year we’ll look back and decide if the car’s worth another engine. In the meantime, we are setting off.
I’ve learned these past few months that grief becomes a mantra in time: is this what they would have wanted. Would they have liked this, would they have approved of this. It’s an impossible answer and best guesses tend to fall short.
But I think Gauraa would have wanted this. So, No Contact lives on to cheat another cheeky cig between takes.
Keep an eye out for more news on the horizon.
We love you Gauraa.
